I’m looking to fairly accurate measurements of tire pressure without dropping ~$60 on a digital gauge. Are the sticks any good? I’ve got one of these:
but I dropped it an now the needle points at 11psi when there is no pressure.

Digital.

I’ve always used the stick ones, never had a problem

Grab one of the house brand ones at Jeg’s. I’ve had a few and they were all good. Maybe $25 or so?

you don’t have to pay 60 for a digital one, I’ve got a craftsman one that I got for like 20$ years ago that works will.
My parents had an accutire one that was like 15$ that seemed pretty good too

Sticks blow, IMO — they work at first, but any FOD or scratches and they can get sticky and provide faulty readings. Go with analog dial gauge. Good ones can be found under $10. Analog is still the best design for almost any gauge because you can always see what’s directly above or below the reading, the rate of change, etc. Digital and sticks can’t do that. Our brains aren’t meant to work that way.

I’ve used this gauge pretty regularly for the past 2 years at a bunch of autox/track days at at home. It’s held up quite nicely and it lives a rough life! It’s purely a gauge, though, and wont attach to air supply to fill the tires like the one in your pic. It has a little button to bleed air out, so I always over-inflate then let air out to the exact pressure I want.

The sticks are good as long as it’s not cheap. A good way to gauge it (teehee) is if the casing is made of real metal, it’s fine. If it’s made of chromed plastic, it’s junk.

All autocrossers use Joe’s Racing tire pressure gage. It’s $20 and accurate. You won’t find a better value

Why not just get another CH one? They're less than 20 bucks so pretty much disposable.

I had two gauges: a stick, and one built into my tire inflator. They gave me different readings, so during my next trip to Goodyear, I asked them to try them out. The stick was accurate, but not the inflator.
This does not mean all sticks are better than all inflators. But it’s not a bad idea to have two on hand.

I got one of those Slime brand analog, round dial gauges for a gift. It it is off by almost 10 psi. Just sayin’

The disposable nature is what bothers me.

I can’t stand sticks and too many of them are cheap crap that fall apart. I have a few of the mini dial gauges floating around and they work well for me. They probably all have different branding on them but all seem to be the same. I throw one in each vehicle and have one floating around in the garage. At $5-10 from Walmart, TSC or any auto parts store you might as well pick up a couple.
